SYDNEY: Breville marketing manager, Peter Brewer, has resigned from Housewares International (HWI) after five years in the role and nine years with the company.

In his role, Brewer was responsible for the Breville, Kambrook, Philips, Ronson and Goldair small appliance brands.

According to a former colleague, the decision to leave the company was Brewer’s decision.

Brewer’s departure follows the appointment of Mike Delauney as HWI general manager – sales and marketing in late 2005 and the recent appointment of Cameron Searle as HWI general manager – marketing.

“We were very sorry to lose Peter. He was very much written into my plans, but he has decided to pursue his career elsewhere,” Searle said.

“We do foresee further investment behind marketing,” Searle said.

“That gives us an opportunity to decide how to structure the marketing department to meet strategic intent that this company has challenged me with. I have been given a lot of autonomy to decide the best way for the future,” Searle said.

Searle built his marketing career with Unilever in South Africa, Israel and Central and Eastern Europe. More recently he helped establish a training consultancy in The Netherlands, to support a car manufacturing concern owned by Mitsubishi, called Winwineurope.

Searle enjoys scuba diving, snow skiing and has his private pilot’s license.
