Toshiba is recalling the “LS-15” labelled AC power cord that was sold with some of its notebook computers between September 2010 and June 2012 because it could overheat and cause burns.

“In some instances the LS-15 labelled connector’s electrical insulation may degrade over time with the potential to overheat and burn,” the ACCC recall notice states.

Not all Toshiba PCs were sold with the affected AC power cord. Consumers are advised to stop using the power cord immediately and visit the Toshiba website to check if their power cord is affected.

Consumers will need the serial and product numbers to identify the cord, which are found on the connector (see picture below). If affected they can register to receive a replacement power cord.
