At last week’s CES in Las Vegas, Samsung confirmed that Gear iOS compatibility will be available to Australian customers with a Samsung Gear S3, Gear S2 and Gear Fit2 and iOS 9.0 and above are compatible.

Samsung Australia VP of mobile, Richard Fink said, “Samsung has pioneered the wearables category across multiple generations of smartwatch and fitness bands. Our latest products offer the very best in both design and functionality and we are excited to extend our experience to new customers with the announcement of Gear iOS compatibility.”

Users can now download the Samsung Gear S app for the Gear S2 and Gear S3 or the Samsung Gear Fit app for the Gear Fit2 on compatible iOS devices from the Apple App Store. Once the appropriate app is downloaded, users will be guided through steps to complete pairing with the user’s compatible Samsung wearable device.

While features and functions will vary by device, iOS users will be able to take advantage of the Samsung Gear S3’s timeless design, IP68 water and dust resistance, as well as the built-in GPS, Alti/barometer and Speedometer apps. It is available in two models – the Gear S3 frontier and the Gear S3 classic. Users will also be able to track their fitness by monitoring distance and route traveled, running pace, calories burned and heart rate.
