Best of the best.

The Everdure by Heston Blumenthal Hub charcoal barbecue has received the highest distinction in the Red Dot Award: Product Design, the Red Dot: Best of the Best. It features Fast Flame Ignition System and an integrated electric element means users can achieve the right cooking temperature in just 10 minutes.

With Rotiscope Technology, users can also set up an authentic commercial-quality rotisserie for cooking over the coals at three different heights. The Cliplock Forks ensure foods are kept firmly in place as they turn, powered by a discreet motor tucked inside the body of the barbecue.

Red Dot Award CEO and founder, Professor Dr. Peter Zec said, “The jury awards the Red Dot: Best of the Best for outstanding design. Only design visionaries can achieve the perfect harmony between the quality of the function, seductiveness, use and responsibility. The award finds ground-breaking designs like these and makes them visible to the whole world.”

In total, the competition received more than 5,500 entries from 54 countries this year. The jury of around 40 independent designers, design professors and specialist journalists tested, discussed and assessed each individual product.

Commenting on the award win, Heston Blumenthal said, “I am very happy that the Hub has won the Red Dot Best of the Best Award. A lot of thought went into every aspect of development and it’s wonderful to have that celebrated by such a prestigious jury. The product development team and designers really did a fantastic job.”

The Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 will culminate in Essen on 3 July 2017. This is when the trophies are presented in front of around 1,200 guests during the Red Dot Gala award ceremony.
