Clive Peeters managing director Greg Smith has announced that former Virgin executive, Stephen Hamilton, will join the retailer in the newly-created role as chief operating officer (COO) on Monday 18 September.
Irish-born Hamilton was formerly COO for Virgin Retail in the United States where he was responsible for building the company into a $US220 million operation. Hamilton recently worked in Australia with the Brazin Group (Sanity music stores).
Also joining Clive Peeters is Andrew Jose, who takes on another new role as national retail operations manager.
Like Hamilton, Jose has a background in the games industry and worked briefly at Myer.
Last week, Clive Peeters opened its second store in Sydney located at the Crossroads in Casula. Like its other store in Sydney located in Auburn, the new store is a former Myer Megamart site.
Clive Peeters will also open a new store in Sydney located at Belrose in the city’s upper north shore. The store is expected to commence trading in late October.
“The North Shore location positions us in an ideal demographic for our premium retail business, and we are expecting the store to be a very strong performer. With a third store in Sydney pre-Christmas 2006, it puts us in a stronger position to leverage advertising and warehousing costs as we enter into the Sydney market for the first time,” Smith told the Australian Stock Exchange in a statement in June.
