Exclusive by Patrick Avenell
Following on from this morning’s exclusives revelations that Sony, Panasonic and Samsung are all planning price rises, LG has also taken the opportunity to notify retailers through Current.com.au that its prices are set to rise.
Talking to Current.com.au, LG sales director Graeme Cunningham said that the prices rises will affect all LG products, and become active early in the new year. As with its Korean counterparts Samsung, Cunningham blames the exchange rate for this decision.
“Due to the increased costs in manufacture and the current circumstances surrounding exchange rates LG will announce a price increase across all categories effective late January,” said Cunningham.
“The increase amount will vary by category and is still to be confirmed but is envisaged to be between 5% and 10%. Retailers will be officially advised in December.”
