Garmin has announced the release of three new handheld GPS devices for use by outdoorsy people such as campers, climbers, backpackers and general adventurers.

The top-of-the-line model is the eTrex 30, which has a 2.2-inch screen, 2D and 3D map rendering, elevation profiles and an in-built 3-axis tilt compensated electronic compass.

“The eTrex has been a staple within our handheld GPS lineup for over 10 years and has been a favourite among hikers and geocachers who want the basics: simplicity and accuracy in a compact and lightweight design,” said Garmin Australasia national sales manager Ian Edwards.

“Using our industry leading experience and innovative technology, we designed the new eTrex to stand up against whatever Mother Nature throws at it.”

The eTrex 30 is RRP $349. Also in the range is the eTrex 10 (RRP $149) and the eTrex (RRP $249).
