SYDNEY, NSW: Mobile and internet security continues to be a key concern for businesses, with AVG today announcing new cyber security products targeted at small-to-medium businesses and McAfee outlining its continuing strategy for mobile security.

According to AVG, the company's new Internet Security Business Edition 2012 software package is targeted at smaller businesses that require strong anti-virus and internet security protection, in a format that is easy to use and tailored to their daily needs.

“More than ever businesses need to be aware that the potential impact of cybercrime must not be underestimated,” said AVG Australia/New Zealand security evangelist Lloyd Borrett. “With our increased dependency on information technology, not protecting your business could mean the end of your business.

“AVG Internet Security Business Edition 2012 aims to be the simplest, most tailored security software for SMBs available,” he added. “For businesses looking for protection without impeding performance, AVG is the most compelling solution on the market.

“With enhanced ergonomics and cost savings, customers can essentially set and forget — with peace of mind that we will take care of the rest while they interact in the connected world.”

AVG Internet Security Business Edition 2012 “delivers more with respect to speed, protection, cost savings and time to focus on the day’s tasks” whilst also demanding less in terms of scanning, interruptions and cost outlay.

AVG Internet Security Business Edition 2012 and AVG Anti-Virus Business Edition 2012 are available for one- and two-year licence periods, with multi-packs available in five seat increments. As an indication, a one-year, five-seat license for AVG Internet Security Business Edition 2012 is RRP $317.20, while a one-year, five-seat licence for AVG Anti-Virus Business Edition 2012 is RRP $199.99.

In other security news, McAfee has today detailed its three-pronged approach to mobile security in the corporate sphere, with a focus on protecting mobile devices, mobile data and mobile applications.

According to McAfee senior director of mobile security John Dasher, the approach is designed to address the ever-changing world of mobile security.

“Mobile device adoption is exploding, and unfortunately, so are the threats targeting mobile platforms,” said Dasher. “If McAfee’s historical experience analysing threats on numerous platforms is any indication, we believe that the emerging mobile malware we are seeing today is just the beginning.”

The McAfee approach aims to protect a variety of devices that operate on different operating systems (including the array of Android OS variants) with its McAfee Enterprise Mobility Management software.

In addition, the company has incorporated anti-theft and loss security features into its software, as well as data protection for devices (including Jailbroken and Rooted devices) and App Alert software that shows users how third-party applications access their data.

“It’s a whole new world, and a challenge for IT to craft security policies that make sense while updating their infrastructure,” concluded Dasher. “At McAfee, we’re working hard to create new technology to help enterprises address the challenge of securely incorporating these new mobile platforms into their environment.”
