Samsung has claimed the #1 market positions for both mobile phones and smartphones, according to Tyler McGee, the local VP of telecommunications.
Although locked in an ongoing patent dispute with Apple, Samsung has got one up on its rivals, with McGee saying that it had secured top spot in both the volume driven mobile phone category and the highly competitive, highly valuable smartphone section.
McGee made this pronouncement during last night’s launch of Samsung’s Music Hub subscription streaming service.
Much of this is due to the very successful launch of the Galaxy S II, which was supported by an extensive marketing campaign and PR program.
The Galaxy S II was awarded the Best All Round Smartphone gong in Appliance Retailer’s smartphone wrap earlier this year.
