Following on from the successful release of the TEAC Aurb iPod Docking Station, the company has released the Mini Aurb – a smaller sibling that features the same curved design as the original, in a smaller footprint.
The SR-80iDABp iPod Docking Station acts as a dock for an iPod or iPhone that allows for playback and charging at the same time. The DAB+ radio is digital ready (while also featuring an AM/FM stereo tuner) and offers an auxiliary input and a USB port for MP3 or WMA playback.
The Docking Station also boasts a 2 x 15 watt amplifier and stereo speakers, with a Super Bass DSP system powered by Maxxbass.
According to a TEAC spokesperson, “Maxxbass psycho-acoustic bass extension delivers a more natural sound quality in comparison to traditional bass boost technologies which use EQ and can overpower systems. The impressive Maxxbass feature analyses low frequencies to create harmonics which are perceived as lower, deeper tones.”
The Mini Aurb also offers users a video output “allowing simple connection to a TV for playback of video”. It features an LCD display and remote, and is available for RRP $399.

In other audio news, Pure Australasia (distributed by Pioneer Electronics Australia) has announced the release of a new digital/FM radio that allows users to record radio shows and enjoy playback when it suits them.
Like the Mini Aurb, the One Classic Series II radio is an update on a previous model which offers consumers a new feature set. The Listen Later button on the radio allows users to record between 30 to 180 minutes of radio programming (depending on the digital station’s bit rate) either on a one-off occasion, or at regular weekly times.
When listening to the playback, users can pause at any time and use the automatic bookmarking to return to the same point in their programme at a later time. The radio is rechargeable (with an optional Fit-and-forget C6L ChargePAK, RRP $79) and can last up to 30 hours on one charge. It can also be powered with batteries.
In addition to the Listen Later feature, the radio offers 30 station presets, MP3-player input, FM tuner, alarm and timer functions and the ability to pause and rewind live digital radio. Intellitext gives listeners scrolling text information (such as news, sports and traffic reports) from participating radio stations, while textSCAN allows this scrolling text to be paused and controlled.
The ONE Classic Series II is available in satin-finish black or white for RRP $169.
