With a significant number of Retravision stores expected to be without a home in early 2013, the number of Leading Edge Electronics members could exponentially increase from 38 to well over 100 once the brand rationalisation plan takes effect.
Leading Edge was launched in July 2004 as part of the Leading Edge Group which has over 1,000 members nationally representing a broad range of buying including Computers, Jewellery, Golf Products, Video, Books, Music and Telecommunications.
According to the company’s website, Leading Edge Electronics claims it has “almost 50 members across regional and rural Australia”, but it only has contact details for 38 businesses with 14 stores trading in New South Wales, nine stores in Victoria, 10 stores in Queensland, one store in South Australia, one store in Tasmania and three stores in Western Australia. There does not appear to be any members in either the ACT or the Northern Territory.

“The Group has been assisting local independent businesses develop and grow since 1986, offering the benefits of group buying power, thus ensuring consumers can continue to shop competitively in regional Australia, whilst at the same time helping to ensure that local businesses remain viable.”
