Publicly listed retailer Metcash, owner of the IGA and Mitre 10 chains, will soon open its first Value Depot business supplies warehouse in Eagle Farm, in Queensland.

The new Value Depot venture is described as “an exciting new wholesale megastore, available for ABN holders to shop for their home or business” in the media invite for the gala opening.

“Value Depot offers a wide range of groceries, confectionery, food service, general merchandise and much more,” continues the invite.

The opening of the store, by Metcash CEO Andrew Reitzer and Queensland Treasurer and Trade Minister Tim Nicholls, will be held on Thursday 13 December 2012. The warehouse is located at 44a Amy Johnson Place, Eagle Farm, around 12 kilometres northeast of the Brisbane CBD.

Metcash PR representatives have confirmed to Current.com.au that Value Depot will carry a range of appliances. We have asked for more information as to the categories and brands Value Depot will sell.

Value Depot will nominally compete with other warehouse-style appliance retailers such as Costco, Masters and Bunnings.

Value Depot will sell appliances, along with a core range of FMCGs, to ABN holders.
