Magellan has announced a promotions program to support its eXplorist range of personal navigation devices, offering free maps to consumers who purchase selected devices. The brand is also permanently lowering the RRP on its eXplorist 310 model.

Consumers who purchase the eXplorist 310 model will receive a free Summit Series Topographical map upgrade for one Australian state of their choice. This map is valued at $50. Shoppers that step up to the eXplorist 510 model (RRP $349) will receive the Summit Series Topographical Map for Australia and New Zealand, which is valued at $150.

Furthermore, as of 28 May 2013 (the start date for the above promotions) the eXplorist 310 will be available for $199 – a $50 reduction from the previous RRP.

Here is a description of the Summit Series maps, provided by Magellan:

“The Summit Series Topographic maps show detailed information about contour lines for accurate elevation, fire-trails, waterways, and details for assessing terrain difficulty as well as thousands of points of interests including campsites.

“Other features of the Magellan eXplorist range include a waterproof casing, GPS receiver, an area calculation feature, Hunt and Fish and Sun and Moon calendars, and a backtrack feature so you can track your route and follow it back to your starting point

“The eXplorist 310 has the ability to store 1,000 waypoints, 50 routes and 50 tracks, while the 510 can store up to 2,000 waypoints, 200 routes and 200 tracks.”

These promotions are running from 28 May 2013 through until 15 September 2013.
