Mother’s Day is only just behind us, but already retailers are starting to think about the gents, with a number of brands gearing up to launch male grooming products over the coming weeks and months.
First cab off the rank is Philips, which has taken a unique approach to promoting its new GoStyler beard and stubble trimmer (RRP $29.95). That’s right men, you thought you could get away with doing a quick Schick over the chin, or opting for a full beard with no in-between? How wrong you were.
Although not the most hirsute of appliance aficionados, UnderCurrent was delighted to see the range of personal grooming options on Philips’ Express Yourself Every Day grooming microsite. The "How To" page allows users to choose their favourite beard or moustache style preference, and then learn how to get a look that would make Guy de Maupassant envious.
Are you the kind of guy that thinks that a goatee is adventurous? Well you clearly haven’t tried out the Chin Curtain Beard, Poet’s Beard, Zappa Beard (including bonus mo) or the curiously named Balbo Beard (presumably named after loveable Italian Fascist, Italo Balbo). Moustaches more your style? Try your hands at a Clark Gable or a Fu Manchu! It’s all good.
There’s even an option to upload your own photo and try out one of the different facial hair styles on your own face.
Hat tip to Philips. It is rare that UnderCurrent has such fun when ‘researching’ grooming products.
