CES Unveiled is the official pre-show media conference for brands to showcase the latest and greatest technology. Here are our picks for the most interesting and eye-catching devices unveiled at Unveiled.
NEOH Surround Sound headphones
French company 3D Sound Labs had an Oculus Rift on its stand because it believes its new NEOH headphones it is introducing later this year will replicate elements of that famous brand’s virtual reality technology in an audio format. The headphones are equipped with sensors so that if you move your head up or down, left or right, the sound will ‘follow’ you in a natural way.
As it stands, the NEOH is only compatible with audio emanating from its own app, which can playback nearly all file formats (‘just like VLC player’ according to Maxime Sabahec, marketing and communications manager), though incorporating streaming services like Netflix and Hulu are being investigated.
We had a listen to the NEOH headphones and can report that the surround sound replication is eerily accurate. These headphones also have a fantastic headfeel. At “sub US $299” these are expected to be a hit with serious AV consumers.
