Thermo Cookers are coming thick and fast in 2015 with new product launches from Tefal, KitchenAid and Pro Appliances recently announced.
While the market, consumers and retailers alike, familiarises itself with this new kinds of kitchen wonder and how to sell them, products are being developed to make these machines even more convenient with the addition of Bluetooth, making them ‘Smart’ Thermo Cookers.
On show at the 2015 Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition) was the next generation MaxiCook by SuperChef, which can be controlled via a smartphone app.
The MaxiCook lacks chopping functions so it has more in common with a well-featured Slow Cooker than a Thermomix. It is able to prepare meals with cooking functions including rice, pasta, steam, boil, slow cook, fry, heat, oven, stew and yoghurt. It also comes with Bluetooth meaning it can be controlled using the SuperChef smartphone app. Home cooks can browse the app for recipes, which tells them which ingredients to add, then can begin cooking or set a timer from the phone.
For example, imagine you come home from work, select a recipe and add the ingredients to the appliance when you decide the meal would be vastly improved if accompanied by wine. The MaxiCook allows you to head out to the bottle shop and remotely tell the appliance to begin cooking for you as you head back home, vino in hand.
In the coming months these smart capabilities will be added to the Cook&Mix by SuperChef, a more versatile multicooker which can steam, fry, stir, mix, heat, emulsify, grind, whip, knead, beat and crush ice.
It’s hardly surprising that a kitchen machine aimed at providing all the modern conveniences would soon be automated via smartphone.
SuperChef appliances are designed in Spain and manufactured in Hong Kong.
