Product features across wearables for sport and fitness are getting more refined as manufacturers divvy up the market into sub-segments to cater for different workouts.
Gibson Innovations (formerly WOOX Innovations) has refreshed the Philips ActionFit range of sport headphones, which launches this week, to cater for a range of different workouts. According to GfK data (October 2014) Philips Sound is the biggest selling sports headphone range in Australia and the brand is eager to build on that position by catering to as wide range of consumers as possible.
The range consists of three different designs, available with or without a microphone. Each comes with three different ear bud sizes so consumers can choose the model which gives them the best fit. There are also a plenty of colours to choose between, overall giving retailers plenty of SKUs to work with.
The range starts with the Jetkit ultra-lightweight headphones (RRP $29.95 or RRP $39.95 with microphone). They have a secure fit but one with more of an open acoustic design so users can still hear their surroundings. Jetkit are sweat and water resistant and come with a carry pouch which clips to clothing during workouts.
Overdrive headphones (RRP $39.95 or $49.95 with microphone) have adjustable ear hooks that securely attach for high intensity workouts. They are sweat resistant, waterproof and have a active noise isolation feature to help cardio-lovers stay in the zone.
At the upper end of the price range are the Airborn wireless Bluetooth headphones (RRP $150) which allow wearers to listen to music from their smartphone and answer incoming calls. The battery provides for 150 hours standby time, 6 hours talk time and five and half hours of play time. The Airborn model will be competing against Jabra Sport Pulse Wireless Earbuds and BackBeat Fit from Plantronics.
The ActionFit range is available now from Big W, Dick Smith Electronics, Harvey Norman and Target Stores Australia-wide.
