Miele has recalled a 60 centimetre three burner gas cooktop (KM 2312) and 90 centimetre five burner gas cooktop (KM 2354) sold nationally between 20 June 2014 and 29 May 2015.
According to the ACCC recall notice the cooktops are defective because “an internal wire has been incorrectly routed and may short to earth through the metallic gas supply pipe, causing a penetration in the pipe.” If the defect occurs, the appliance could catch on fire.
Affected consumers should cease using their cooktop immediately and switch it the power off at the wall socket. This may be located under the cooktop or in the adjoining cabinetry. They should then contact Miele on a free helpline 1800 332 542 between 9am – 5pm AEDT Monday to Friday or email priority.support@miele.com.au.
