Following a backlash from retailers coping directly with the inadequate ‘tape and plastic bag’ fix, Samsung now says that it has resolved nearly 60% of the recalled 144,451 washing machines. This equals 85,971 machine issues resolved through a rework, exchange or refund since the recall was initiated in April 2013. In the last month, more than 11,000 cases have been resolved.
Samsung continues to invest in advertising to raise awareness of the recall, running ongoing social and digital advertising as well as print across metro and regional papers.
Samsung has provided its summary information to NSW Fair Trading as part of its ongoing compliance with the notice issued under section 22 of the Electricity (Consumer Safety) Act 2004 (NSW).
Samsung continues to encourage customers to check the model details of their top loader Samsung washing machine, to determine if their model is impacted by the product safety recall. The model numbers are as follows: SW75V9WIP/XSA; SW65V9WIP/XSA; SW70SPWIP/XSA; SW80SPWIP/XSA; WA85GWGIP/XSA; WA85GWWIP/XS.
