Due to risk of undercooked food.
The Sunbeam Sous Chef Stir Multi Cooker (MU3000) sold nationally between 17 February 2017 and 18 May 2017, has been recalled.
If the product is used in slow cooker mode, the product may not reach and maintain a temperature during the allotted cook time that is sufficient to fully cook the food. Therefore, consumers could be exposed to undercooked, or not properly cooked, meats.
Sunbeam general manager of product and marketing, Adam Tacey provided the following statement to Appliance Retailer:
“At Sunbeam, the well-being of our consumers is a top priority. As part of our continuous product improvement efforts, we recently conducted internal and external testing on the Sous Chef Stir Multi Cooker to evaluate its performance. As a result of these tests, we identified the slow cooker mode setting does not meet our rigorous performance standards and may not reach and maintain the temperatures necessary to fully cook food in the time allotted.
“Out of an abundance of caution, Sunbeam is issuing a voluntary recall of the Sous Chef Stir Multi Cooker sold in Australia and New Zealand. While we have already removed this product from retail shelves, we encourage consumers that have purchased the Sous Chef Stir Multi Cooker in Australia from March 2017 to May 2017 to return their product to the retail store for a full refund.
“For more than 100 years, our commitment to consumers is to deliver products that meet the superior standards consumers have come to expect from Sunbeam and want to show our gratitude. Once consumers receive a store refund, they should reach out to our consumer services team at 1300 138 774 (Monday-Thursday 8:30 am – 5 pm AEST, Friday 9:30 am – 5 pm AEST) in Australia or 0800 786 232 (Monday-Friday 8:30 am – 5 pm NZST) in New Zealand or visit https://www.sunbeam.com.au/ to receive a token of our appreciation.
“In the meantime, we encourage consumers if in doubt, to use a meat thermometer to measure the internal temperature of meat to ensure it is properly cooked prior to eating.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused our consumers and appreciate their understanding.”
