Groupe SEB has reported revenue above 8 billion Euros (A$12.74 billion) for 2021, making it a record year for the company and representing over 1 billion Euros (A$1.59 billion) in like-for-like growth compared to 2020.
Annual sales were up 9.6% on 2019, which Groupe SEB described as a “more normal base of comparison than the atypical 2020 fiscal year”.
The consumer business reported sales growth of 16.7% in 2021 compared to 2020 reflecting a solid first half with organic growth of 29.6% against the backdrop of vigorous demand for small appliances and persistent strong sales momentum in the second half with growth of 11.3% including organic growth of 8.4%.
All regions and products contributed to the robust performance with e-commerce a key growth driver throughout the year, supported by development of all online sales channels. The Americas region led revenue growth (19.1%), followed by EMEA (18.7%) and Asia (10.7%).
Groupe SEB Australia and New Zealand managing director, Joe Tizzone said the 2021 local result contributed to the company’s record year.
“Although we are only present in cookware and small domestic appliances within the ANZ region, we still achieved double-digit growth during a year of uncertainty and operational issues created by Covid,” he told Appliance Retailer.
“The result is a testament to our relationships with retailers and 3PL providers, and it highlighted the resilience of our people, given the countless challenges we faced throughout the year. I believe that Groupe SEB Australia and the Tefal brand has emerged stronger as a result, and we feel we are well-positioned for further growth in 2022 with an exciting roadmap of products to come.”
Commenting on the sales result, Groupe SEB chairman and CEO, Thierry de La Tour d’Artaise said, “Groupe SEB delivered in 2021 a record year, with revenue above €8 billion. This exceptional growth, better-than-expected and exceeding €1 billion, was driven by the remarkable dynamics of the consumer business and that of professional coffee, which confirmed its recovery.
He added: “It enables us to offset headwinds and to reach an operating margin from activity of 10%. I am proud of these achievements. I would like to share this success with our Groupe SEB teams and thank them for their mobilisation throughout this complex period. Now more than ever, our strategic choices prove relevant and allow us to be confident in our ability to outperform the global market in all our business activities.”
