Myer has confirmed that it will exit its Blacktown store located in Sydney’s west with trading anticipated to cease on Sunday 3 April 2022.
The department store said it had taken into account strengthening online sales, as well as the number of Myer stores in close proximity to Blacktown, including Castle Hill, Parramatta, Bankstown and Roselands.
The decision follows the closure of other stores around the country since the Customer First Plan was launched, including Logan (QLD) in January 2019, Hornsby (NSW) in January 2020, Emporium (VIC) in May 2020 and Knox (VIC) in August 2021.
Space reductions and improvements have been undertaken at Belconnen (ACT), Cairns (QLD), Morley (WA) and Highpoint (VIC) with space reduction works underway at Toowoomba (QLD).
“The decision continues to deliver against our Customer First Plan and we will continue to make targeted improvements to our store network, reducing space and improving the offer for our loyal customers,” Myer CEO, John King said.
“We thank our Blacktown team members for their service and contribution to the business and our Blacktown customers for their loyalty to the store. We trust they will continue to shop with us at our nearby stores or online.”
