LG Electronics has unveiled its 2023 TV range, consisting of 33 new models including the flagship LG OLED evo G3 and C3 TVs, OLED Lifestyle, QNED models and the LG Stanbyme portable screen.
2023 marks 10 years of global OLED technology leadership for LG, with the latest TVs boasting smart upgrades, innovative technologies and unique form factors.
Demonstrating continued innovation in OLED technology, LG has introduced 15 new OLED models in 2023, led by the flagship LG OLED evo G3 series and LG SIGNATURE OLED M TV (above).
The 97-inch LG SIGNATURE OLED M is the world’s first TV with Zero Connect technology.The wireless TV comes with a separate Zero Connect box that can send 4K video and audio signals at 120Hz. The Zero Connect box comes with multiple ports to plug in HDMI devices, connect with compatible soundbars, and is voice recognition enabled.
The LG TV model with the most significant upgrade in 2023 is the OLED evo G3 TV (below). Available in sizes from 55- to 83-inches, the G3 features One Wall Design, leaving minimal visible gap when wall mounted. The latest Alpha9 Gen 6 AI Processor, combined with Brightness Booster Max technology, which incorporates new Light Control Architecture and light-boosting algorithms, increases average and peak luminance,delivering the company’s brightest 4K OLED picture.
AI Picture Pro offers improved upscaling and includes OLED Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro, which splits pictures into 20,000 blocks to detect the darkest and brightest areas and deliver precision HDR optimisation. Super Anti Reflective technology reduces light glare and reflections. LG AI Sound Pro provides virtual 9.1.2 surround sound from the TVs built-in speakers.
For seamless TV and soundbar integration, LG customers can leverage WOW Orchestra when they pair a compatible LG TV and soundbar, to utilise every audio channel across both products for more immersive sound. The WOW Interface makes it possible to control soundbar settings via the TV’s Home Dashboard. Dolby Vision IQ and Dolby Atmos also remain in LG TVs in 2023.
For gamers, LG has expanded the cloud gaming experience by adding 4K support for NVIDIA GeForce NOW across the 2023 TV range. Game Optimiser makes a return to 2023 LG OLED TVs to select and switch between game-genre display presets, and other gaming specific features.
All-new Home webOS
In 2023, LG has introduced the new ‘Home webOS’ with Quick Cards providing access to content and services with different categories grouped into Home Office, Gaming, Music and Sports.
The Home Office Card transforms the LG TV into a workstation with access to cloud-based virtualisation solutions, such as Windows 365 and Google Drive, and via the Gaming Card, users have a gateway to services such as GeForce NOW, Twitch and YouTube. The Music card provides access to major music streaming services such as TIDAL and Spotify, and the Sports card serves real-time updates and alerts.
Another new feature is AI Concierge, whichprovides keywords for browsing trending content. It also suggests useful settings, options and modes, including the Family Care setting, Eye Comfort mode and Multi View mode, clock setting, Bluetooth speaker connection, and mute sound.
LG expands Lifestyle TV offering
LG has extended its 2023 Lifestyle TV range introducing new form factors including the LG Objet OLED models – Posé and Easel – as well as LG StanbyME portable screen and flexible OLED display, LG OLED Flex.
LG Posé (above and below) features an LG OLED evo panel and Alpha9 Gen 5 AI Processor, which work together with Brightness Booster Max technology to deliver more vibrant and clearer images. The sleek cable and accessory organiser keep entertainment devices tidy and when not in use, the TV can transform into a frame via the LG Gallery Mode.
LG Objet Easel (below) offers a unique form factor. Created by Danish textile innovator, Kvadrat the fabric cover is available in Kvadrat Beige and blends with modern home décor. Using the LG Magic Remote, users can raise or lower the fabric to partially cover the display to only see a curated selection of lifestyle functions. By lowering the cover completely, users can experience a full viewing experience on the 65-inch LG OLED evo screen, enhanced by the 80W, 4.2-channel sound system.
LG StanbyME is a portable screen that features a 27-inch FHD touch LED screen and rechargeable battery. With five wheels hidden in the base, it can easily be moved from room to room. Featuring near field communication technology (NFC) compatibility users can mirror content from an NFC-enabled device via the LG ThinQ app. Offering multiple adjustment options, the screen can rotate up to 180 degrees, swivel to 130 degrees, tilt to 50 degrees, and move vertically by 20cm.
LG OLED Flex (below) boasts a bendable 42-inch OLED screen with 20 incremental settings to move from completely flat to curved (900R). The OLED Flex supports Dolby Vision gaming at 4K 120Hz and includes HDMI 2.1 features including Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM). The TV is also G-SYNC compatible and features AMD FreeSync.
Users can adjust the height, tilt and even resize the image in the screen. The LG OLED Flex also features a built-in microphone with noise cancellation and 40W front-firing speakers with 2.2 channel surround sound and Dolby Atmos.
LG QNED TVs
LG QNED is the company’s premium LED TV that combines Quantum Dot and NanoCell. Integrating both technologies, LG QNED MiniLED TVs feature hundreds of dimming zones and mini LEDs for more precise control of brightness, deeper blacks and enhanced contrast ratio.
The 2023 QNED TV range comes in sizes from 55- to 86-inches in 4K resolution. New to the line-up this year is QNED Million Grey Scale Block Dimming technology, enabling one million, dynamic gradations to be achieved.
