TCL has released an 8kg Heat Pump dryer with an 8-star energy efficiency rating, its latest product innovation intended to reduce the company’s carbon emissions targets for 2025.
The technology uses a refrigerant instead of electricity to heat the air, saving power and costing consumers less, TCL national marketing manager, Rafael Mayen said. “It also eliminates moisture condensation in the laundry room, reducing the risk of mould on walls and ceilings.”
A Quick-Dry cycle dries a 1kg garment load in 20 minutes, a Smart Dry option with three pre-set drying levels monitors humidity and optimises drying times and an Anti-Wrinkle function saves ironing time and lessens the risk of shrinkage. The drum cools down and spins in small increments for up to 120 minutes, ensuring clothes are not left to rest in a static position that can increase wrinkles in the fabric.
There is also a Steam Dry function that delivers a light spray of heated water mist over garments, reducing wrinkles and creases, and an Allergy Care cycle that automatically removes bacteria and allergens from wet or dry clothing and soft toys. A drying rack holds bulky items such as shoes and hats, helping to reduce wear and tear.
According to Mayen, by 2025, TCL is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 18%, water consumption by 27%, electricity consumption by 13.5% and natural gas consumption by 70%.
The dryer, which has a three-year warranty, is available from Retravision, Betta Electrical, Bi-Rite Home Appliances and Appliances Online for RRP $1,299.
