Aldi has recalled a private label multifunction cooker after it was discovered the benchtop appliance could potentially eject food at high enough temperatures to cause burns on those standing nearby.
Called the Kuchef Thermo Cook (Item Code: 44277 ; Model Number: EC-TC-01) and sold at Aldi stores in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory between 18 December 2013 and 18 January 2014, this appliances was sourced by Euro Centra (Australia) Pty Ltd, a third party importer.
According to the notice on the Product Recalls website, “If overloaded, this product may restart at a higher speed potentially causing hot food to be ejected”, and that the resultant “splashing hot food causes the risk of burns”.
Unusually for a private label product recall, affected consumers are being advised to contact the sourcing agent directly, rather than the retailer. Euro Centra can be contacted on 1800 269 981 (9am to 5pm; Monday to Friday) or by email to support@eurocentra.com.au.
