Amazon Australia has launched Prime free same-day delivery in Sydney, reaffirming its commitment to faster deliveries for Prime members in Australia.

Same-day delivery is free to Prime members on eligible orders over $49, and is available to the majority of Sydney residents, covering over 90% of the city’s population.

Prime members can now order from more than one million products across categories including electronics, home and kitchen, as late as midday for delivery before 10pm that day. To find eligible items, customers can look for items marked with Prime delivery ‘Today by 10pm’ or the ‘Prime Same-Day’ badge on product detail pages on the Amazon app or website.

Amazon Australia country manager, Janet Menzies said, “We are focused on getting even faster for Prime members and are thrilled to be hitting a major milestone with the announcement of free same-day delivery across a huge range of products for members in Sydney.

“We know that busy Australians appreciate the time saved and the reliability of knowing that their order will arrive when we say it will. In fact, a new report from Mandala Partners, commissioned by Amazon Australia, shows faster online delivery times are estimated to have provided nearly $350 million of value to Australian consumers through improved convenience and time-saved over the past decade.”

Amazon Australia plans to expand product selection and delivery areas eligible for Amazon’s Prime free same-day delivery and one-day delivery. Prime members outside of same-day or one-day eligible locations can still benefit from free delivery in as fast as two days on eligible orders.

To celebrate the launch and make special deliveries, Amazon Australia has appointed cricketing superstar and Australia’s fastest bowler, Mitch Starc as chief speed officer.
