Australian Border Security closed an Electrolux Home Products Distribution Centre in August following the potential outbreak of the Khapra Beetle which had the potential to cause up to $15.5 billion in damage to the Australian economy.

The distribution centre in Casula near Crossroads in Sydney was closed when beetle activity associated with a shipping container delivered to the site was detected.

The beetles were located in the packaging of refrigerators which had been delivered to retailers including Appliances Online, Winning Appliances and The Good Guys.

The site was closed for a short period of time as it underwent extensive fumigation with a temporary distribution centre created in the interim.
