Headsets to arrive before 2017.
Local distributor RIISE has secured the Australian and New Zealand distribution rights for the ZEISS range of virtual reality headsets (VR). A globally renowned lens and optical equipment manufacturer with 170 years of experience, the introduction of their high-end VR headsets in late 2016 will be the first time this range has been available in Australia and New Zealand.
ZEISS’ VR category is the second range to be represented in Australia by RIISE who, since being founded in 2015, has successfully launched and driven the 360fly brand of 360-degree cameras into the market. 360fly products are currently sold through JB Hi-Fi and digiDIRECT.
“Our focus is on locally representing global companies at the forefront of emerging technologies who have products that deliver a true point of difference in the market. Our work with 360fly, successfully positioning the brand as the ‘go-to’ for professional and consumer 360-degree video through both our retail and marketing efforts, gives us confidence in our model,” Nick Segger of RIISE said.
“It’s now time to expand with a complementary brand, and we are delighted to be working with ZEISS on the VR headset range. As VR continues to grow in awareness and use across both consumer and commercial applications, we believe that offering a premium solution that delivers both comfort and quality will give Australians a new way to enjoy and share their VR content.”
“We also have a strong pipeline of potential partners in complementary areas and look forward to sharing this news with our retail partners in due course. It’s a very exciting time heading into 2017.”
Launching on Tuesday, the ZEISS VR ONE Plus will set the benchmark in optics, ergonomics and design. Featuring the ZEISS All-In-One lens design, these premium optics ensure sharp picture all over the visible area (100°FOV), not just in the center as is the case with other VR headsets, even when the headset is not optimally positioned. Glasses can be easily worn with this headset with no manual focal length adjustment required, while the large eye box means that no lens adjustment necessary for different interpupillary distance (PD).
ZEISS regional sales director for SEA and ANZ, Victor Cheang said, “The ZEISS VR ONE Plus headset meets the demands of an evolving VR industry as well as new platforms for immersive and interactive VR. We are excited to bring to the Australia & New Zealand market this high-quality virtual reality experience ensured by the optics in the ZEISS VR ONE Plus through our partnership with RIISE.”
The ZEISS VR ONE Plus will be available from www.zeissvr.com.au and other leading retailers with a recommended retail price of $199.95
