A vision come to life.
Harvey Norman proprietor, Steve Cavalier, and his team have unveiled its Cooking Inspiration Gallery with a multi-million dollar renovation incorporating 27 separate industry brands.
At an event held within the Gold Coast-based store after hours to thank suppliers, Cavalier delivered a passionate speech to explain how the cooking concept came to fruition.
“This is a vision that I have had for three to four years, Cavalier said to an assembled audience representing the majority of the 27 brands represented in the new Inspiration Gallery.
“I spoke to Katie [Page] in the coffee shop about two years ago and I said this is what I want to do with our cooking area and she said: ‘Go for it! – and so we did!

“The support I had from David Ackery and Haydon Myers has been outstanding as this project was a big punt. This is something that is totally outside the framework of Harvey Norman, but as you can all see, the vision that we have had and what we have achieved, I seriously think it is outstanding. The support we have had from all of the suppliers has been absolutely amazing – from the smaller suppliers through to the premium suppliers, and without this support it wouldn’t have happened.
“People have the trust in Harvey Norman, they have trust in me, and our amazing team.
“Everyone has busted their butts – this showroom evolved from a blank shell and all this has happened in only eight weeks. We are talking about plumbing, power, data, even bobcats, and up to 100 tradesmen working from as early as 4am and as late as 2am on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays – it was really something to see.
“I have to give kudos to our project manager, Lucas Kucharski – his attention to detail has made it seamless and easy for the suppliers – I personally thank you Lucas for the outstanding job.
“Our interior designers, One Alliance, managed to see inside my head and they have delivered exactly what we wanted. I would highly recommend these guys – they are extremely talented people in their field.
“I am proud of what we have achieved and I think it is a milestone for Harvey Norman and hopefully we will see a few more of these come out around Australia because I think cooking is an amazing part of our business and we are only cracking the surface!
