It’s fair to say Sony didn’t exactly bring the house down with its official CES press conference on media day here at the show. That said, there were some interesting new developments: here’s our pick for the best gear on display at the famed Japanese company’s booth:

Sony’s SmartEyeglass Attach! may have a naff name but it certainly was very popular at the Japanese company’s CES stand. It features a 0.23-inch (around 0.66 centimetres) colour OLED microdisplay, an accelerometer, compass, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and a touch sensor.

Sony’s thinnest ever Ultra HD TV is this 65-inch Class 4K model (XBR-65X900C) - it’s thinner than the Xperia Z3 smartphone.

Refreshed with improved battery life (10 hours) is Sony’s colourful Wireless Speaker range (SRS-X55). Sony hasn’t yet revealed a truly robust Sonos-style wireless multiroom system, and while various speakers in its range can be controlled from a single app, focus will remain on Bluetooth until such a release is made, hopefully this year.

Although arguably a product 10 years too late, Sony’s 128GB Hi-Res Audio Walkman (NW-ZX2) is an awesome MP3 player for fans of seriously good sound. Also pictured here is Sony’s dedicated Headphone Cable (MUC-B20BL1), its Portable Headphone Amplifier (PHA-3) and the MDR-27 Headphones with 70-millimetre driver units for “articulate audio”.

It's good to see Sony persisting with its robot fantasies, though this isn't so much a an actual product but a concept piece to demonstrate its capabilities.
