Smaller, lighter, better and now more Biblical — the latest GoPro Hero3+ captured our imagination this week for several reasons:
- We love that GoPro is a premium product with a premium pricetag, targeted at a specific consumer niche that is prepared to pay more for a solution.
- Survivor producer Mark Burnett praised GoPro for “[allowing] us to capture and share fascinating new perspectives that previously weren’t possible” on the long-running reality TV program and his other project, the bizarrely popular mini-series The Bible.
- All the features so important to adventurous filmographers have been enhanced: 30 per cent longer battery life, four times faster Wi-Fi, 20 per cent small and lighter and now waterproof to 40 metres.
One thing that did amuse us, however, was GoPro’s claim to be the best-selling camera globally in consumer markets. Now this may be true, but we were slightly confused by GoPro citing “internal GoPro sales data” as its major source.
