SYDNEY: The evolution of Sony Ericsson’s Walkman phone range has continued with the announcement of two new Walkman phones – the first ever Sony Ericsson slider W850i and the sports oriented W710i with a built-in pedometer.
Sony Ericsson’s first GSM/3G ‘slider’– the W850i has been combined with a full horizontal mode camera and the latest Walkman player 2.0 for simple music downloads.
Memory expansion on the W850i has been addresses with a 1GB Memory Stick PRO Duo supplied, which is enough for around 1,000 songs in eAAC+ format. This can be expanded to 4GB for those consumers who desire a larger music collection.
Available in Precious Black or Golden White, the phone has a ‘heartbeat illumination’ feature to light-up the control keys in rhythm with the user’s music.
Designed to support an active, sporty lifestyle, the W710i includes a motion sensor plus new fitness applications that measure the user’s running speed, distance and time, or simply count their steps while they are walking.
Available in Performance Graphite and Hatha Violet, the phone also features a 2-megapixel camera with digital zoom and comes with a 512MB Memory Stick Micro, which can be expanded to 1GB.
Sony Ericsson has also announced three new portable hands free sets including the Walkman-branded HPM-65 which is designed to deliver the best possible sound quality for both voice and music. The HPM-82 boasts deep bass with light in-ear design and remote control and the top of the range HPM-85 is designed for optimium sound and comfort.
