Bose has unveiled a new range of Bluetooth speakers, called SoundLink Colour (RRP $179), to compete in the hotly contested home/portable speaker segment. Available in black, white, blue, red and mint, these speakers can operate for up to eight hours on a single charge of Lithium-ion battery.
The new speaker is intended to be ultra-portable — it can fit into a handbag or the palm of one’s hand — whilst retaining what Bose calls, “full-range sound, including deep, low-note performance”.
Connectivity is over Bluetooth and the SoundLink Colour can remember up to eight devices at once for automatic connection. There is also a 3.5-millimetre input for connecting non-Bluetooth sources. “With its size and performance, the SoundLink Colour speaker is a small wonder, making out-loud listening undeniably portable, powerful and fun,” the Massachusetts company says.
Joining these speakers in the SoundLink range is a new set of stylish On-Ear Bluetooth Headphones (RRP $299). Designed to be comfortable and with “crisp” sound, these black or white headphones can pair with two devices simultaneously for convenient switching between, say, a tablet and a smartphone.
A full charge of these headphones provides 15 hours of listening, while a user can receive 2 hours of listening pleasure from a mere 15 minutes of zapping via the including USB cable. “With commands on the earcup, you’re in control: turn it on and off, answer and end a call, adjust volume, play/pause, or control tracks, without using your phone,” says the chirpy Bose marketing team.
