Two new affordable, full frame RF lenses from Canon are coming to Australia next month to help photographers capture macro subjects and vast landscapes.
Made for RF mount Canon cameras – such as the recently-launched EOS R7 and EOS R10 – the new lenses provide additional photography options to the stock standard lens bundled in with a camera purchase.
The RF 24mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM is a lightweight 270-gram lens ideal for everyday use and is suited for capturing details close up. Its fixed focal length and wide aperture are helpful for night photography, low light situations, and for producing a shallow depth-of-field where your subject is sharply in focus while everything else is softly blurred. To assist with this, the lens has a dedicated focus ring, making it easier to manually adjust the focus as needed.
Alongside it is the RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM, a 390-gram lens that fits wide open spaces into the frame while giving greater flexibility in tight indoor areas. A versatile 15-30mm focal range makes the lens a great companion for travel photographers and vloggers eager to capture everything in a single shot.
Both new Canon lenses feature an inbuilt 5-stop Optical Image Stabiliser to help keep things steady whether it be for still photography or videos. This stabilisation increases when used with an EOS R series camera that has Body Image Stabiliser; up to 6.5 stops of Coordinated Control Image Stabilisation for the RF 24mm, and 7 stops for the RF 15-30mm lens.
Equipped with a leadscrew-type STM focusing motor, the lens can quickly focus on moving subjects. Additionally, the motor operates quietly so it doesn’t interfere with audio when shooting video.
Available in Australia this August, the RF 24mm f/1.8 MACRO IS STM has an RRP of $1,049, and the RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM’s RRP is $969. Both lenses come with Canon Australia’s five-year warranty when purchased from an authorised reseller.
