Samsung Electronics introduced its Odyssey gaming monitors at CES Las Vegas with new curved displays and industry-leading performance. The monitors will be released in Australia later this year with pricing to be confirmed.
Comprised of the G9 model with an industry-leading 49-inch display and the G7, available in 27- and 32-inch, both monitors are completely redesigned to take immersive gaming to the next level.
Leading international certification organization, TÜV Rheinland, has awarded Samsung the industry`s first high performance 1000R curved display and Eye Comfort certificate.
The G9 is the world’s first Dual Quad High-Definition gaming monitor to feature a 240Hz refresh rate, one millisecond response time, 32:9 aspect ratio, deep 1000R curvature, and peak brightness of 1000 cd/m2. The monitor also features Quantum Dot technology combined with an HDR1000 VA panel to produce lifelike colors in vivid detail. The G9 sports a new design with glossy white exterior and futuristic infinity core lighting glowing rear core, which includes 52 colours and five lighting effect options.
The G7 has the same quick response time and refresh rate, deep curved QLED display with Quantum Dot technology, and overall performance of the G9, in smaller screen sizes. The G7’s Quad-High Definition, 16:9 aspect ratio and HDR600 VA panel are complemented by a 600 cd/m2 peak brightness.
The G7 has been completely redesigned with a matte black exterior and colour-changing rear core lighting that can remain static or dim during gameplay, as well as change colors based on gamers’ preferences.
Samsung Electronics Australia director of display and memory, Phil Gaut said the Odyssey gaming monitor range breaks new ground for Samsung and represents the pinnacle of the company’s innovation for gamers.
“The performance and deep 1000R curvature of the Odyssey range is like nothing else we have offered before and opens up a new way for gamers to immerse themselves in the action of their favourite game,” he said.
“By enhancing the curvature, Odyssey monitors will provide a huge viewing angle which can help to minimise head and eye movement for gamers when they are in the thick of their fastest game-play. The curve surrounds the gamer’s field of vision to help deliver more action and content from a single viewpoint.”
