Canon joins the long list of suppliers celebrating their award winning products this month, picking up eight prestigious 2015 iF Design Awards to mark 21 consecutive years of recognition from International Forum Design.
Across the product design and packaging design categories Canon cameras, video, lens and printer products received iF Design Awards. Notably, the Océ PlotWave 500 monochrome large-format printer was selected for an iF Gold Product Design Award 2015, the highest honour in the product category.
“We’re proud to win eight awards across our product portfolio from consumer to pro, including a coveted Gold Product Design award,” said Andrew Giles, manager – communications and public relations, Canon Australia.
“This year’s awarded products represent some meaningful innovations to help people achieve more than they previously could through their imaging, which is our ultimate goal.”
Based on weekly patent counts issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Canon is one of the top-five US patent recipients for the past 29 years, a figure which reflects its commitment to innovation Giles said.
Canon’s winning products are: PowerShot N100; EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x super telephoto zoom lens; XF205/XF200 professional Full HS camcorder; MAXIFY MB5360- series business inkjet printer; and Océ ColorWave 900 color wide-format printer.
Of the iF Gold recipient, the Océ PlotWave 500 monochrome large-format printer, the jury said:
“With its design, this printer conveys innovation and classic Océ values at the same time. Its clear structuring in connection with the most modern functions is the starting point for intuitive operability. Pleasantly reduced, it integrates into any office environment despite its individual character.”
