Woolworths Holdings has appointed Country Road Group (CRG) chief executive, Scott Fyfe as the new CEO for David Jones, effective 26 October 2020. He takes over the helm from Ian Moir who has served as interim CEO for the past eight months during an internal and external recruitment process.
Fyfe has led CRG for the last four years and prior to that, he worked at Marks & Spencer in the UK for 20 years.
Woolworths Holdings started recruiting for a new David Jones boss in January after former Levi’s CEO, Roy Bagattini replaced Moir as head of the South African company.
“Scott has a proven track record of transformation and strategic delivery, having built a world class team to re-establish Country Road Group’s iconic brands,” Bagattini said.
“At CRG he has delivered market-leading online growth while optimising and repurposing store footprint. We look forward to Scott’s contribution and the application of his skills and expertise as we accelerate the turnaround of the David Jones business.”
Bagattini also thanked Moir for his contribution to the Group over more than 20 years, including his earlier leadership of Country Road Group and then as WHL Group CEO.
“We wish Ian all the very best in his future endeavours,” he said.
Commenting on his appointment, Fyfe said, “David Jones is one of Australia’s most iconic retail brands and is backed by an exceptionally strong culture of commitment to quality and style. I look forward to leading the team and working with our many partners as we focus on the changing behaviors of our customers and delivering products and experiences for the future.”
CRG managing director, Elle Roseby, alongside Witchery and Trenery managing director, Simon Schofield, will jointly run the CRG business, reporting to Bagattini during the recruitment process for a new CEO.
