Businesses fast-track Dick Smith applications.
Flight Centre has received a very strong response from affected Dick Smith employees for job openings around the country with the travel consultancy chain. Within a matter of hours, Flight Centre received hundreds of email responses, acting public relations manager, Laura Carlin, told Appliance Retailer this morning.
“We understand it is a difficult time for Dick Smith employees and we are happy to support them by offering a number of roles within travel consultancy to enable them to transfer their strong customer service and sales experience.
“We invite employees who are interested in working in the travel industry to contact us at anewstart@flightcentre.com.au,” Carlin said.
Best & Less, now run by former Dick Smith executive, Rodney Orrock, is also calling out to Dick Smith employees to help them find another role and are asked to message the retail chain at recruitment@bestandless.com.au.
New Horizons Learning Centre has also addressed Dick Smith employees with the following statement on LinkedIn from CEO, Rahul Kumar.
“It is very unfortunate that an Aussie icon has folded and jobs have been lost. Although we cannot undo this, we can definitely help. New Horizons is looking for 13 sales professionals across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
“Although the jobs were meant to start on April 4, I am happy for these roles to go live ASAP, if we get enough interest. I worked at Dick Smith through school and university. Kindly call our hiring manager, Ben Wymer, on 02 8263 5935, or email him on bwymer@nhaustralia.com.au.”
Kumar told Appliance Retailer this morning that he had received a few responses from Dick Smith employees. He also said that although he cannot offer all employees a position, he encourages employees to get in touch with him as he is happy to forward on resumes to the appropriate people on his LinkedIn network of 15,000.
“It is part of the Australian spirit to help people in difficult times,” he said.
Payam Data Recovery is also seeking two experienced people to join its Sydney team with first preference being given to ex-Dick Smith employees.
A statement from CEO, Payam Toloo on LinkedIn read, “We would love to help Dick Smith employees. We are looking for a customer service expert to provide telephone and face to face customer service at our Sydney office.
