Gaggenau is hosting The Elevation of Gravity installation during Milan Design Week 2024 at Villa Necchi Campiglio, a 1930s historic residence in the heart of the city.
Crafted within Villa Necchi’s glass pavilion, The Elevation of Gravity represents a manifestation of the Gaggenau brand in delivering a new way of living. Enveloped in a semi-transparent fabric, the pavilion is divided into two interconnected spaces – one space offers a communal hub showcasing current Gaggenau appliances and the other space unveils the latest product launches in a visionary display.
Spanning 1,100 square metres, the installation features The Essential Induction (feature image), new generation of cooling and a first look at the next Gaggenau icons.
The Essential Induction combines a cooktop and worktop into a single surface that simply incorporates a dot, a surface and a knob, allowing it to seamlessly integrate into any space of the home.

The dot is a subtle light that intuitively links the knob to the cooking zone in operation. It guides users on where to place cookware and its variation in intensity, colour and state shows when the module is on, if there is residual heat or if the surface protector is missing. When not in use, it automatically turns off, returning the surface to a space for preparation, serving, eating or socialising.

The 12mm compact Dekton worktop is available in various colours and finishes, all scratch and heat resistant.
Two sizes of induction modules can be combined. The standard 21cm module accommodates pots and pans between 10cm and 21cm in diameter, while the larger 28cm module is suitable for cookware between 15cm and 28cm in diameter. The induction modules are activated through enhanced surface protectors that magnetically connect to the cookware.

The 400 series front-mounted control knobs, which can be placed front and centre or aligned with the cooking zones, deliver direct, fast and intuitive selection of 12 power levels, keep warm and boost functions. The control knobs are available in stainless steel or black.
The Essential Induction cooktop will be available in Europe, Turkey and the Middle East from May 2024.
In a first for the brand, Gaggenau commissioned Dirk Haubrich to create a bespoke ambient soundscape to immerse visitors within the installation. The music composer has also composed original music for a contemporary dance choreographed by Philippe Kratz which is performed within the installation.
Throughout Milan Design Week, Gaggenau is hosting discussions, interactive sessions, social events and workshops. A panel talk explores the principles of reduction and essentialism in architecture and design to improve everyday life.
The Elevation of Gravity concept was developed with creative agency, Anomaly Berlin and architect partners, 1zu33, with other partners including flooring specialists, Schotten & Hansen, Italian natural stone manufacturer, Salvatori, and coffee machine manufacturer, La Marzocco.
