The Gaggenau Kitchen of the Year Design Contest is making a return in 2025, with entries now open until 30 April, 2025.

Now in its third iteration, this competition is dedicated to recognising and celebrating kitchen design excellence across Australia and New Zealand.

This year’s award challenges architects, interior designers, builders, and developers to transcend conventional boundaries, crafting culinary spaces that embody the essence of luxury and sustainability.

Gaggenau senior brand manager, Olya Yemchenko said, “Gaggenau’s legacy has always been deeply intertwined with enduring craftsmanship and visionary design. Our relentless pursuit of design excellence and functional longevity is reflected in every project we support. We seek designs that not only marry form and function but also redefine what’s possible in kitchen architecture, embodying Gaggenau’s unparalleled craftsmanship and innovative spirit.”

Judging the entries will be industry leaders including Eva-Marie Prineas of Studio Prineas, Damian Hannah of German Kitchens Limited, Richard Archer of Archer Design, Miriam Fanning of Mim Design, Sue Carr of Carr Design and Martin Cooper of the Property Council of New Zealand.

Entries will be evaluated based on criteria such as originality, responsiveness to client briefs, user-centred design, execution quality, and the integration of Gaggenau appliances.

The award features two categories – Luxury Home and Multi-Residential. The overall winner will receive an exclusive, all-expenses-paid trip to Salone del Mobile in Milan, 2026.

Entries close on 30 April, 2025, with the shortlist announced at the end of July 2025. Projects completed after 1 May, 2023, are eligible for consideration.
