Glen Dimplex has appointed its Chairman Fergal Naughton as Group CEO.

Fergal Naughton, the son of company founder Martin Naughton, will take over the role in April from Fergal Leamy after six years in the role.

This is the second time Fergal Naughton has been CEO of the company – he was initially appointed CEO in 2016 when his father Matin Naughton stepped down as president of the company.

Martin Naughton started the company over 50 years ago when he founded Glen Electric in 1973. In 1977 he acquired Dimplex forming the Glen Dimplex Group.

Glen Dimplex Australia CEO, David Woodward, welcomed the appointment.

“Fergal Naughton has worked in and around the business his father started over 50 years ago for his entire life and so to have a family member running our family business makes sense. Fergal has been to Australia many times and is very customer focused. Everyone within the local subsidiary has embraced the appointment wholeheartedly,” Woodward said.

In Australia, the Glen Dimplex portfolio of brands includes: Belling, Euromaid, Technika, Morphy Richards, Real Flame, Nectre, Masport, Dimplex, Nobo, Crossray, Blaze and Heatstrip.

Fergal Naughton said he was looking forward to commencing the new role.

“I consider it a privilege to lead my family’s business, which was founded by my father Martin more than half a century ago.

“On behalf of the Board, our exceptional leadership team and all colleagues across our Group, I would like to thank Fergal [Leamy] for his significant contribution and collegiate support in driving our transformation as a solutions provider for more sustainable homes and businesses.

“I look forward to working with our colleagues around the world over the weeks and months ahead, and in particular, to engaging closely with our strong leadership teams as we position for the undoubted opportunities that lie ahead.”

Former CEO Leamy signalled his plans to step down from his role after six years following a period of transformation and will remain with the business in an advisory capacity for the next six months.

“Over the last six years we have progressed a significant transformation of the group, built a really strong leadership team and positioned the business to maximise its growth potential as the energy transition gathers momentum,” Leamy said.

“Now felt like the right time for me personally to move on and focus on a number of other interests. I have very much enjoyed working with Fergal Naughton, he is the logical person to continue the transformation journey he started back in 2016.

“I look forward to working closely with Fergal over the next few months but for now I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the wonderful team we have at Glen Dimplex and to thank the Board and shareholders for the opportunities and experiences they have given me over the last six years.”
