Remains chairman of shareholder board.
Former Glen Dimplex CEO, Seán O’Driscoll, has stepped into the role of president, following the departure of Martin Naughton, who founded the company more than 40 years ago.
Naughton will continue to be a chairman of the shareholder supervisory board and his son, Fergal Naughton will succeed O’Driscoll as CEO and Michael Maher will become COO. Martin McCourt, formerly of Dyson, joins as non-executive chairman and Neil Naughton will be deputy chairman.

Commenting on the restructure, Naughton told Glen Dimplex staff, “I believe it is necessary to change the structure of the Group in order to drive its long-term profitable growth and success but let us work together to make our companies even more exceptional.”
“I am also delighted that Martin McCourt has agreed to join us. He steered Dyson to international success for 15 years,” he said.
In a statement provided to Appliance Retailer, Glen Dimplex Australia managing director, David Woodward said, “One of the strengths of our Group has been the stability and experience of our board in Ireland. These are the first significant changes in well over ten years and point to an exciting future.
“We look forward to tapping into the wealth of knowledge and experience that has been added to the Group as we continue to grow and develop our business in this part of the world. We have some very exciting plans for the next few years and our local team is genuinely excited about the positive changes happening around the Group.”
A new shareholder supervisory board has been formed and this will provide clear strategic counsel and direction to the executive board with specific medium to long-term performance objectives.
The members of the board are:
- Martin Naughton (chairman);
- Simon Hodges (vice-chairman);
- Fiona Naughton;
- Neil Naughton;
- Fergal Naughton;
- Chris Cole;
- Andrew Griffiths;
- Joe Menendez; and
- Lochlann Quinn.
Naughton founded Glen Electric in 1973 and in 1977 he acquired Dimplex forming the Glen Dimplex Group. The Group’s portfolio of brands includes Dimplex, Valor, Robinson Willey, Redring, Xpelair, Morphy Richards, Roberts Radio, Lec, Stoves, New World, Britannia and Belling cookers.
