The Global Cooksafe Coalition (GCC) has announced ISPT as its latest property partner, further signalling the Australian property industry’s commitment to electrification and sustainability in the built environment.

The GCC is a unique coalition of 24 world-renowned chefs, eight global property companies, and 26 not-for-profit members including public health and climate experts, and three government supporters.

ISPT joins existing GCC Australian property partners GPT, Lendlease, Frasers Property, Cbus Property, International Towers and Scape in the Coalition. These businesses have committed to building fossil fuel-free kitchens in all new developments by 2030 and all-electric kitchen retrofits to existing properties by 2040.

ISPT’s portfolio of 139 properties is worth over $21 billion with the total property portfolios and funds under management of GCC partners in Australia now worth nearly $160 billion.

ISPT chief sustainability officer, Steven Peters said, “The Global Cooksafe Coalition plays a vital role in promoting the transition to more sustainable and healthy kitchens. ISPT is committed to reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and has a pathway mapped to remove gas and electrify the base building operations of our properties. We are proud to be a signatory to the GCC and extend our existing plans to include working with tenant partners across our portfolio to electrify their kitchens.”

GCC global marketing manager, Virginia Jones is excited to welcome both ISPT and new chef ambassador, Manpreet Sekhon.

“In just two years the GCC has seen nine leading property companies in Australia and the UK sign up to fossil-fuel-free kitchens in their properties. The addition of ISPT to this powerful group further illustrates the industry’s commitment to building decarbonisation. We’re also thrilled that so many highly esteemed chefs like Manpreet are adding their voices to the call for the electrification of kitchens,” she said.

New chef ambassador, Manpreet Sekhon, known as the ‘Curry Queen’, owns and operates the all-electric Elchi Restaurant on Flinders Street in Melbourne, as well as Masti in Fitzroy and Eastern Spice in Geelong. She says that cooking on induction has many benefits, and she has never had to compromise on any traditional Indian flavours or dishes.
