GoPro has introduced two new cameras – the top-of-the-line HERO13 Black with its HB-Series lenses, and the smallest and simplest 4K camera, the HERO.

“This year’s two new GoPro cameras are inspired by and built for the GoPro community,” GoPro founder and CEO, Nicholas Woodman said.

“HERO13 Black features four new interchangeable lens mods that HERO13 automatically detects and adjusts its settings for, magnetic latch mounting, GPS, and a more powerful battery that provides longer runtimes and improved thermal performance.

“HERO is the smallest, lightest 4K GoPro ever with a screen that will appeal to new and experienced users with its rugged, ultra-light design and impressive 4K image quality.”

The HERO13 Black boasts best-in-class 5.3K 60 frames per second video, Emmy award-winning HyperSmooth stabilisation, and core GoPro characteristics.

With 13x Burst Slo-Mo, the camera captures up to 400 frames per second at HD-quality 720p video, as well as 5.3K at 120 frames per second and 900p at 360 frames per second video. Its redesigned 10% larger capacity and more power efficient battery extends runtime in all weather conditions.

The HERO13 Black incorporates faster Wi-Fi 6 technology for up to 40% quicker content transfer speeds and professional-level Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) HDR video with broadcast-standard 10bit and Rec. 2100 colour space and a wider colour gamut than HDR alone.

Offering more customisable audio tuning allows users to choose balanced true-to-life sound or a voice setting that enhances vocal clarity, while preserving ambient background sound.

Thanks to GPS + performance stickers, users can track speed, path, terrain, altitude and g-force, and help with geotagging in third party media management apps.

The HERO13Black is available for RRP $649.95 and the HERO13 Black Creator Edition can be purchased for RRP $979.95 complete with Volta Power Grip, Media Mod and Light Mod, or activity-optimised HERO13 Black Accessory Bundles exclusive to the GoPro website.

HERO13 Black customers can add the new HERO Black (HB) Series Lenses – the Ultra-Wide Lens Mod, Macro Lens Mod, Anamorphic Lens Mod and ND Filter Four-Pack. Each lens is automatically detected by HERO13 Black to provide optimal settings based on the lens type and environment. The four HB-Series Lenses are the only lenses compatible with GoPro-patented HyperSmooth stabilisation and are waterproof and scratch resistant with hydrophobic coatings.

HERO is the smallest, lightest, most simple to use and lowest cost 4K camera ever with a screen, weighing just 86 grams. With built-in mounting fingers included, HERO has 35% less volume and 46% less mass than HERO13 Black.

Its rugged and waterproof to 5m design is supported by an intuitive touch screen and one-button control. The LCD screen can be used to frame shots and swap modes before hitting the shutter button to start capturing in Ultra HD 4K and HD 1080p video, 12MP photos or slow things down with 2.7K 60 frames per second.

HERO is available for pre-order now for RRP $349.95 ahead of on-shelf availability from 22 September 2024.
