Eclectic mix for local healthcare and beauty supplier.
Sol Republic, San Francisco audio company, has been acquired by international distribution company, HoMedics, joining a growing list of HoMedics audio consumer brands such as House of Marley, HDXM and JAM Audio.
Also joining the leadership team at HoMedics is Kevin Lee, co-founder of Sol Republic and part of the Beats startup team. Lee will be leading all marketing and communications from the company’s new Michigan headquarters.
HoMedics Australia general manager, Michael Tapp, said that Sol Republic’s target demographic was, “males 15-30 who want something that everyone doesn’t have”.
Sol Republic has been working with Convoy International (previous distributer) since the launch, “CEO Geoff Matthews and his team have done an excellent job with initial Australian distribution,” Tapp said.
He explained why they took Sol Republic on board, “We do audio well and noticed a gap between the brand promise and the product with SOL Republic. We can fulfil and deliver far better product,” he added.
Sol Republic was founded in 2011 by Kevin Lee, Scott Hix and Seth Combs, and produces high-quality audio equipment at a moderate price point. Alongside consumer audio products, HoMedics distributes health, wellness, home entertainment and lifestyle products.
