Due to battery fire risk.
Select HP PPS internal batteries for HP laptop computers have been recalled as they have the potential to overheat and therefore pose risk of fire and burn hazard. The computers were sold at computer retailers nationally from 1 December 2015 to 31 December 2017.
The following Notebook computers are affected: HP ProBooks (64x G2 and G3 Series, 65x G2 and G3 Series), HP Envy m6, HP Pavilion x360 and HP ZBook (17 G3, 17 G4 and Studio G3) mobile workstations.
Many of these batteries are internal and not visible when looking at the laptop. The battery packs have a CT: code with imbedded information that can be decoded by HP. The first characters of the unique number of a potentially affected battery will be: 6GAVV, 6EZPC, 6FDWN, 6EZZE, 6EZZF, 6EVXH, 6ETGL, 6FSRV, 6FWBF or 6FWBH.
Consumers are advised to cease use of the battery immediately and HP will provide replacement battery services, at no cost.
Batteries affected by this recall should immediately be put into ‘Battery Safe Mode’ and users may continue to use the notebook on this mode by connecting the notebook to a HP power adaptor.
