As a convert to the world of first person shooters, RPGs and all things CODBLOPS, UnderCurrent is of the opinion that the console gaming market could do with a bit of a shake-up. Aside from the recently launched Wii U, which allows Mario fans to shoot shells and in spectacular multi-screen glory, there have been no new console launches for some time.
In the gaming community, there are countless experts and n00bs alike posturing on the release schedules of the major manufacturers this year. Will Xbox 720 be launched any time soon? Will Sony PlayStation get its gear out at E3? Does Atari have plans to launch a new Tetris themed console? (Answer: No, it does not).
Alas, for retailers hoping to rise above the rumour mongering and get their hands on some exciting new products to drive sales in store, the only answers are going to come from the big wigs at the companies themselves.
But until then, it might be worth pencilling 20 February 2013 in your filofax.
