MELBOURNE: Pioneer electronics Australia announced today that it has been forced to increase the recommended retail pricing on its home entertainment product range, effective immediately.
In a statement this morning, Pioneer stated that the price rises of between five and 15 per cent were “Due to the recent depreciation of the Australian dollar against overseas currencies”.
“Amidst a very challenging economic market, Pioneer will actually hold pricing on some of the company’s Blu-ray and home theatre models, as well introduce a manageable 10 per cent average price increase to key categories, such as plasma,” said Pioneer Electronics Australia chief financial and operations officer, Bruce Blythe.
Pioneer said however that some products escaped the price increase — namely Pioneer’s entry-level Blu-ray player (BDP51FD) and a range of entry-level home theatre systems.
Average price increase per category are:
Plasma TV: 10 per cent
Blu-ray: 10 per cent
DVD: 4 per cent
DVD recorders: 10 per cent
Home Theatre: 15 per cent
