Beats competitors off the grid.
JB Hi Fi has regained the first spot on the coveted 2106 Reputation Index compiled annually by research group AMR. The Index is based on a survey of 7457 consumers and ranks 60 of our biggest companies. JB ranked first in 2014.
Other industry brands that appeared in the Index with changes from their 2015 ranking included: Apple (up from 11 to 9), Nestle (down from 4 to 12) The Good Guys (down 12 to 16), Harvey Norman (up from 26 to 20), Myer (remained at 21). Woolworths was the worst performer in the pack, falling from the 17th position last year to 40th. This was a drop of 23%.
According to AMR managing director, Oliver Freedman, JB’s success has been credited to several key factors. The primary factor, Freeman explained, was its focus on value, which had helped build trust and transparency with consumers.
Added to this was its ability to change its model and product range to suit shifting consumer tastes and preferences. He said this was a challenge for most retailers and pointed to Dick Smith as an unfortunate but abject case.
“They [JB] has been able to adjust what they are selling and how they are doing it over the past few years,” he told the Australian Financial review which broke the story this morning.
