JB Hi-Fi is continuing its expansion in New Zealand with the opening of a new store in South City Mall in Christchurch.
The new store offers an extensive range of computers, tablets, phones, TVs, audio equipment, gaming devices and home appliances, as well as music and movies.
South City brings the new JB Hi-Fi look and feel to the South Island of New Zealand. The exposed black ceiling, LED strip lighting, polished concrete floor and product displays are designed to reflect the JB Hi-Fi DNA. The iconic hand-drawn signage brings a pop of colour and humour, which is on-brand for JB Hi-Fi.
Commenting on the grand opening event last week, JB Hi-Fi New Zealand managing director, Tim Edwards said, “It was great to have so many people visit our new South City store. We welcomed more than 3,000 people through the doors. We know the success of this store is linked to the mall and other retailers, so while the event was ultimately to celebrate our new store, it was pleasing to see so many people who potentially haven’t been to South City Mall for a while.
“As the home of music and movies, we’re big supporters of New Zealand music and were fortunate to have pop band, Drax Project perform at the opening event. They flew in from Australia and stayed around after their performance to sign posters and take pictures with fans.”
The opening of JB Hi-Fi at The Base Te Awain Hamilton on the North Island marked the beginning of the retailer’s ambitious growth strategy for New Zealand – doubling the size of its business in the next three to five years – closely followed by a new store in Auckland CBD.
“We see a tremendous growth opportunity in this market, and with new leadership and a strong strategic plan, now is the time for us to maximise its potential,” Edwards said.
